ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY

Astro-English: from Astronese, the prefix apo- is used to denote “the astronomical world” due to it meaning something “far away” while the suffix -onic being an extension of the shorter suffix -ic establishes the adjective to literally and broadly mean “relating to the world far from our own.”
